The publishing industry was rocked with the arrival of e books and not sure how to respond as it worried consumers did not want to read books in the electronic format, but this has proved to be wrong as more and more mobile devices make book reading even easier to do in just about any situation, plus the fact that many devices such as the Kindle from Amazon have come along to help consumers have an improved book reading experience. The book consumers of the world have shown that they are more than willing to embrace the e book format and bought quite a few books in the last few years, but things are looking to be even stronger as sales continue to rise, especially for best sellers that are now experiencing a price rise that none could have predicted only a few short years ago when the market looked to be a dead end to so many publishers. The prices are now going up from just under ten dollars to nearly thirteen dollars, a price that includes the digital delivery of the actual product, as well. This has given consumers more options, but at the same time may restrict the number of books they are willing to purchase on a monthly basis.

Many insist that digital delivery should be able to deliver books at a lower cost and several consumer advocate groups are upset that books should be priced so high as it reduces the number of people who can afford to read them. It remains to be seen if the price hikes prove lucrative for publishers or actually reduce spending by book consumers over all.
